Carbidopa Levodopa Usage: this tablet is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Carbidopa is used to make levodopa more effective. Carbidopa has no effect when given alone.
How to use Carbidopa Levodopa: Take it drug as directed. it may take a few weeks before the full benefits of it med are observed. If you changing from plain levodopa to this drug, levodopa must be discontinued for 8 hours before taking this combination drug. If stomach upset occurs, it med may be taken with food or milk. Consult with youre doctor. do not crush or chew the tablets. 50/200mg strength tablets may be broken in half. don't break 25/100mg strength tablets in half; doing so will change the drug's release system & may increase the possiblity of side effects.
Carbidopa Levodopa side effects: may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss about appetite, stomach upset, nausea, vision changes, or trembling of hands. These should subside as you're body adjusts to medication. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, inform your physician. Notify your pharmacist if you develop any of these serious effects while taking this medication: vomiting, difficulty swallowing, difficulty urinating, uncontrollable movements (especially twitching of eyelid), chest pain, irregular heartbeat, skin rash, mental/mood changes. may cause darkening about the urine or sweat. this is not harmful & will disappear when the med is stopped. may cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Change positions slowly & be careful on stairs. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're pharmacist or pharmacist.
Carbidopa Levodopa Precautions: this medication may cause false results in urine glucose testing in diabetes. TesTape must be used to test urine since accurate results. Tell you're physician some your medical history, especially of: glaucoma, skin cancer, breathing problems, heart disease, gland problems e. g., diabetes, thyroid), kidney or liver disease, ulcers, depression, blood disorders. it drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks & benefits with you're physician. Levodopa appears in breast milk. do not take this medication if you breast-feeding.
Carbidopa Levodopa drug interactions: Tell your doctor about all medications you may use, (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), tablets used for depression or anxiety, iron vitamins, phenytoin, blood pressure drugs, pyridoxine, any other meds used for Parkinson's disease. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Carbidopa Levodopa Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include irregular heartbeat & muscle spasms.
Carbidopa Levodopa special notes: Be sure your doctor knows your complete medical history & the drugs you are taking.
If you missed Carbidopa Levodopa dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered and take any remaining dose for that day at evenly spaced intervals. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Carbidopa Levodopa Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. do not store in the bathroom.
