    Electrolyte solution - oral

    (ih-leck-troh-lite solution)

    Pediatric Solution Usage: this solution restores fluids and minerals lost to diarrhea or vomiting.

    How to use Pediatric Solution: don't add water. the solution is ready-to-use. the total amount to be given is determined by the severity about vomiting or diarrhea & degree about dehydration. You may need to contact your doctor for the exact amount to be given & since how long. Generally one to 2 ounces per pound of body weight is given over period of two to 4 hours in it manner: one teaspoonful all 10 to 15 minutes for 30 minutes; if it is tolerated, give one tablespoonful every 15 to 20 minutes followed by two tablespoonfuls all 30 minutes. If not tolerated or if diarrhea persists, contact doctor. the amount given each time may be gradually increased until 4 to 6 ounces (120 to 180 ml) can be given all 3 to 4 hours so that 1 to 2 quarts (1 to two liters) taken daily while diarrhea continues (adults may need more).

    Pediatric Solution side effects: a common side effect that usually goes away during treatment is mild vomiting. If it continues, call doctor. Call the healthcare professional immediately if any of the following effects occur: convulsions or seizures, dizziness, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, irritability, muscle twitching, restlessness, weakness, swelling about feet or lower legs, puffy eyelids. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.

    Pediatric Solution Precautions: this solution shouldnot be given when: they're is an inability to drink (as in cases of shock), persistent vomiting is present, stool losses greater than two ounces per pound of body weight (100ml per kg) per hour--this is of 2 quarts (2 liters) per hour for 30 pound (14 kg) kid, theyre is difficulty urinating, intestinal blockage is present. Call the doctor immediately when signs of dehydration present. These include: severe thirst, doughy skin, sunken eyes. Avoid other electrolyte-containing foods or liquids, such as fruit juices or foods with added salt, until treatment with this medicine is completed. Breast-fed infants should be given breast milk between doses of solution.

    Pediatric Solution pill interactions: Tell you're physician or doctor if you are taking any other med (including nonprescription), such as: home remedies for diarrhea or vomiting. do not start or stop any medicine with-out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Pediatric Solution Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Pediatric Solution special notes: Call the physician if diarrhea continues past two days or if it should become worse during treatment. Soft foods such as rice cereal, bananas, cooked peas, cooked beans & potatoes must be eaten until diarrhea stops & regular food & milk can be taken again.

    If you missed Pediatric Solution dose: this solution is given on an as-needed basis. Follow the package directions.

    Pediatric Solution Storage: Store un-opened container at room temperature away from light, heat or moisture. do not store in bathroom. After using, replace the cap, refrigerate (do not freeze) and use within 48 hours. don't re-use container.
