Guaifenesin/carbetapentane/decongestant - oral
Carbatuss Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Carbetapentane suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. it combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & another respiratory illnesses.
How to use Carbatuss: this med is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets & capsules whole. do not crush or chew them: long action will be destroyed & the chance about side effects will be increased. Take this pill as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed.
Carbatuss side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss about appetite, nausea, dry mouth or anxiety may occur 1'st several days as youre body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Carbatuss Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung diseases (e.g., asthma, emphysema), HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this tablet causes you to feel drowsy. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with some your healthcare professional. since small amounts of this tablet are found in breast milk, consult some your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Carbatuss drug interactions: Tell youre physician of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Limit youre intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or doctor approval.
Carbatuss Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include excitement, tremor, restlessness, insomnia, fast heartbeat & breathing, dilated pupils, confusion, hallucinations, and seizures.
Carbatuss special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this med. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Carbatuss dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near time since next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Carbatuss Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
