Sorbitol - oral
Sorbitol Usage: it medication is used as a laxative to treat occasional episodes of constipation.
How to use Sorbitol: this med is usually taken by mouth. do not use for longer than one week & do not take with additional laxatives or stool softeners unless directed by youre doctor. Laxatives should only be used temporarily until normal bowel habits return. Prolonged use can lead to laxative dependence. this medication may also be used rectally as an enema after properly mixing. Consult your doctor or pharmacist since more information.
Sorbitol side effects: Nausea, gas, diarrhea, stomach cramps or anal irritation may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: rectal bleeding, vomiting, weakness, dizziness, persistent urge to empty the bowel. Tell your physician immediately if any about these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: black, tarry stools. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Sorbitol Precautions: this drug shouldnot be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your pharmacist or pharmacist if you have: undiagnosed stomach pain, nausea/vomiting, rectal bleeding, sudden change in bowel habits lasting over 2 weeks. Before using it medication, tell your doctor or healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: any allergies. Contact some your doctor promptly if your constipation isn't relieved after using it drug for one week. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of the drug. Caution is advised when using this medication in child because they may be more sensitive to effects of drug. this pill is not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you pregnant. it is not known whether it drug passes into breast milk. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Sorbitol drug interactions: Before using this medication, tell youre doctor or doctor of all prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially about: other laxatives, stool softeners, sodium polystyrene sulfonate. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Sorbitol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: stomach cramps, diarrhea.
Sorbitol special notes: do not share this medication with others. Consult your pharmacist since plan that is right for you to prevent constipation. plan may include drinking more fluids, increasing bulk or fiber in your diet, & regular exercise.
If you missed Sorbitol dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If Its near clock of the next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Sorbitol Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from kid and pets.
