Warning: this medication has rarely caused blood disorders (aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis). Promptly notify your healthcare professional if you experience sore throat, fever, unusual weakness or fatigue, unusual bleeding or bruising. You will be monitored to minimize possibility of these symptoms occurring.
Carbatrol Usage: this tablet is used to treat seizure disorders and certain types about nerve pain.
Carbatrol can be used also since: this drug may also be used for emotional/mental conditions, in certain substance abuse rehabilitation programs & has other uses as well.
How to use Carbatrol: Take as directed by you're doctor, usually two times daily. May take with food if stomach upset occurs. If you have difficulty swallowing capsules, the capsules may be opened & sprinkled over food such as very small amount of applesauce (or other soft food). do not crush or chew capsule or contents of capsules. do not suddenly stop taking this medication without consulting youre doctor. since seizure control, It's important to take every doses on time to keep the level of med in you're blood constant. Take doses at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night.
Carbatrol side effects: can cause drowsiness, dizziness, nausea and/or vomiting. Unlikely to occur but report to youre pharmacist if you develop any of next side effects: blurred vision, unusual eye movements, aching joints, loss about appetite, increase in skin sensitivity to sun, diarrhea, constipation, headache, mood changes, hair loss, unusual sweating, stomach pain, unusual skin eruptions, skin sores or skin ulcers, confusion or hostility, persistent headache, increase in seizures, unusual weakness, fever, sore throat. Very unlikely but report immediately to your pharmacist if you develop any about the following side effects: swollen glands, shortness of breath, wheezing, white spots on lips/mouth, unusual bleeding or bruising, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, swelling of legs/feet/hands or face, darkening urine, pale stools, yellowing of eyes or skin, unusual change in amount about urination, numbness/tingling in hands or feet. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immeditial medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Carbatrol Precautions: Tell youre doctor your medical history, especially about: glaucoma, HBP, blood clots, blood diseases, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, alcohol or substance abuse, emotional or mental conditions, any drug allergies. Because carbamazepine may make you dizzy/drowsy, use caution when performing tasks that require alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit intake of alcoholic beverages as this may add to the dizziness/drowsiness effects of this drug. Carbamazepine isnt recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your physician before taking this med. this medication is excreted into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Carbatrol med interactions: Tell you're doctor of all prescription & nonprescription med you may use, including: another seizure medication, doxycycline, warfarin, danazol, erythromycin-like antibiotics, calcium channel blockers, lithium, haloperidol, certain SSRI antidepressants, cimetidine, isoniazid, propoxyphene, tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, doxepin), cyclosporine, acetaminophen, nefazodone, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine), St John's wort. Tell your physician if you have taken MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Carbamazepine may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Consult your physician to discuss alternative birth control measures. do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless your physician instructs you otherwise. this drug may interfere with certain pregnancy tests. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Carbatrol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, deep sleep, tremor, rapid eye movements, fast heartbeat, muscle twitching, large pupils, fainting, and irregular breathing.
Carbatrol special notes: do not share it medication with others.
If you missed Carbatrol dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if Its almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up. Call you're doctor if you miss more then one dose daily.
Carbatrol Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 77 degrees F (between 15 & 25 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
Medical alert: your condition can cause complications in medical emergency.
