Heparin Lock Usage: this medication is an anticoagulant which prevents the blood from clotting. it is used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism & other conditions of blood clotting.
How to use Heparin Lock: this medication is administered by health care professional either as an injection or infused slowly in to a vein over period time. Blood tests will be done routinely to determine the appropriate dose.
Heparin Lock side effects: it medication may cause irritation, pain, redness or swelling in injection site. If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your physician if you develop signs of possibly allergy: chills, fever, itchy skin, rash. Bleeding must be monitored for it may indicate dose is too high. Notify your physician if you experience any of the following while using this drug: easy bruising, nose bleed, dark and tarry stools, blood in urine, bleeding episode. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or pharmacist.
Heparin Lock Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: blood disorders, bleeding episodes, heart disease, ulcers, liver disease, kidney disease, any allergies. preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in it product or in liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during 1st months of life (neonatal period). risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the pharmacist immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. Elderly persons may be more sensitive to effects of this drug. it tablet should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. it is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Heparin Lock drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you take, especially of: blood thinners, aspirin, nitroglycerin, injectable antibiotics. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or healthcare professional approval.
Heparin Lock Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include unexplained bleeding and bruising, stomach pain or swelling, back pain, blood in urine, vomiting blood, dizziness, and headache.
Heparin Lock special notes: it drug is usually administered initially in hospital where your condition can be monitored closely. Laboratory tests will be done periodically to be sure the pill is working properly & to monitor for possible side effects.
If you missed Heparin Lock dose: it is important to use each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, contact your healthcare professional who will help establish new dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Heparin Lock Storage: Store it medication as directed. Properly discard about any unused med after expiration date.
