Erythrocin Stearate Usage: Erythromycin is an antibiotic used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections, middle ear infections, & skin infections.
How to use Erythrocin Stearate: this drug is best taken on an empty stomach. it may be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs, however, it will reduce blood medication levels. Take each dose with a full glass of water or fluid. tablet must be swallowed whole to prevent stomach upset. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine at youre body is kept at constant level. Do this by taking medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout day and night. Continue to take this medication until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after few days. Stopping the drug too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting at a relapse about infection.
Erythrocin Stearate side effects: may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps the 1'st few days as your body adjusts to medication. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your doctor. Notify some your healthcare professional if you develop symptoms of jaundice such as: dark urine, clay-colored stools, yellowing about eyes or skin. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it medication, seek doctor attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. Use about it medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result at a secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection) If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Erythrocin Stearate Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver disease/jaundice, any allergies. Caution is advised when this drug is used in infants. Though very unlikely to happen, a stomach problem called IHPS (infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis) has been noted. Contact your child's doctor immediately if the kid has persistent vomiting or increased irritability. it drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Small amounts of pill do appear at breast milk, so consult youre physician before breast-feeding.
Erythrocin Stearate medication interactions: Tell your pharmacist about all meds you may use, (prescription & nonprescription) especially about the following: carbamazepine, cyclosporine, theophylline, certain benzodiazepines (e.g., midazolam, triazolam), warfarin, felodipine (a calcium channel blocker), cisapride, birth control pills, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), digoxin, certain live vaccines, disopyramide, phenytoin, every other antibiotics, drugs for high cholesterol (e.g., lovastatin). other tablets besides erythromycin which may affect heart rhythm (QTc prolongation in the EKG) include dofetilide, pimozide, quinidine, sotalol, procainamide, & sparfloxacin among others. QTc prolongation can infrequently result in serious, rarely fatal, irregular heartbeats. Consult your physician or physician for details. Ask for instructions about whether you need to stop any other QTc-prolonging drugs you may be using in order to minimize risk about it effect. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Erythrocin Stearate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include stomach cramping, nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea.
Erythrocin Stearate special notes: it medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use it later since another infection or give it to someone else. different drug may be necessary.
If you missed Erythrocin Stearate dose: If you must miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for following dose. If it is nearly time for the following dose, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose.
Erythrocin Stearate Storage: Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. don't freeze. don't store in bathroom.
