Erythrocin Lactobionate Usage: it medication is an antibiotic used to treat various infections.
How to use Erythrocin Lactobionate: it medication is administered by injection into vein. it may be infused continuously or given separate doses at evenly spaced intervals around clock to ensure constant level of med in your blood. Take it medication for the full time prescribed. do not stop taking this with-out your doctor's approval. Stopping therapy too soon may result in reinfection.
Erythrocin Lactobionate side effects: Nausea, vomiting or irritation at the injection site may occur. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your pharmacist if you develop: stomach cramps, diarrhea, jaundice, dark urine, unusual tiredness, ringing in ears. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to it drug, seek healthcare professional attention immediately. Erythrocin Lactobionate Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially about: liver disease/jaundice, any allergies. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the tablet. Caution is advised when this drug is used in infants. Though very unlikely to happen, stomach problem called IHPS (infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis) has been noted. Contact your child's doctor immediately if children has persistent vomiting or increased irritability. a preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during 1'st months of life (neonatal period). the risk is greater with lower birth weight infants & is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Small amounts of med do appear in breast milk, so consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Erythrocin Lactobionate drug interactions: Tell your doctor of all drugs you may use, (prescription & nonprescription) especially about next: carbamazepine, cyclosporine, theophylline, certain benzodiazepines (e.g., midazolam, triazolam), warfarin, terfenadine, astemizole, felodipine (a calcium channel blocker), cisapride, corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), digoxin, pimozide, all other antibiotics, certain live vaccines, disopyramide, phenytoin, sparfloxacin (a quinolone antibiotic), certain drugs for high cholesterol (e.g., lovastatin). this drug may interfere with effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your healthcare professional. don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Erythrocin Lactobionate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include stomach cramping, nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea.
Erythrocin Lactobionate special notes: When possible, the injection will be replaced with drug taken by mouth.
If you missed Erythrocin Lactobionate dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Erythrocin Lactobionate Storage: this medication is stable for 8 hours at room temperature or for 24 hours if refrigerated. the tablet may be frozen for up to 30 days. If frozen, thaw in refrigerator and use within 8 hours of thawing. do not refreeze thawed med. bucks the expiration date on the label & properly discard of any unused medication after that time.
