Advate Usage: Antihemophilic factor is protein in the blood necessary in forming clots to stop bleeding. Persons with hemophilia a have low levels about this protein leaving them susceptible to bleeding episodes. this medication is used to temporarily prevent or control bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia a.
How to use Advate: this medication is given by injection into vein. rate about injection depends upon patient response but is generally injected over three to 10 minutes. powder & dissolving fluid should be warmed to room temperature before combining if they were refrigerated. After adding dissolving fluid, swirl the vial gently to completely dissolve the powder. do not use mixed solution if you find any floating particles in this or it discolors. pill should then be started within 1 to 3 hours depending on the product. it may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. dose and frequency of use of this med will be determined by your condition, weight and situation. Follow your doctor's instructions closely & be sure to ask any questions you may have about this therapy.
Advate side effects: this tablet is generally well tolerated. Mild chills, nausea & irritation in injection site may occur. in the unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.
Advate Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: another illnesses, allergies (especially to animal proteins). You should cash your heart rate before & during injection. the dose or rate of infusion may need to be changed if youre heart rate is too fast. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. this isnt known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Advate med interactions: Tell you're doctor of every over-the-counter and prescription medications you may use. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Advate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Advate special notes: Blood tests will be done frequently to determine dosing & evaluate effectiveness of this drug.
If you missed Advate dose: It's important that each dose be used as directed. If you miss dose, contact your doctor to establish new dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Advate Storage: Store the medication according to manufacturer's instructions. check expiration date on the label & properly discard any unused medication after that time.
