Warning: this medication may cause severe blood disorders (e.g., bone marrow suppression, including hemolytic anemia, & especially thrombocytopenia & leukopenia). syndrome known as Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (a combination of anemia, decreased platelet count, & nonreversible kidney failure) has occurred. Blood transfusions may make symptoms of this syndrome worse. Notify your healthcare professional immediately if you develop symptoms of an infection (such as persistent sore throat or fever), fatigue, simple bleeding or bruising, dark urine, or change in amount of urine.
Mitomycin Usage: Mitomycin is used to treat various types of cancer.
How to use Mitomycin: this is a potent medication. Take it exactly as prescribed. Tell youre pharmacist or nurse immediately if you experience pain, burning or redness at place where injected.
Mitomycin side effects: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, skin rash, numbness or tingling in the fingers or toes, purple-colored bands on nails, or unusual tiredness or weakness common side effects. Not eating before treatment may help relieve vomiting. Changes in diet such as eating some small meals or limiting activity may help lessen some of these effects. in some cases, medication therapy may be necessary to prevent or relieve nausea & vomiting. Temporary hair loss is another common side effect; normal hair growth must return after treatment has ended. Contact youre pharmacist immediately, if you experience any of the next symptoms: fever or chills, cough, lower back or side pain, painful or difficult urination, unusual bleeding or bruising, black tarry stools, blood in urine or stools, small red spots on skin, shortness of breath, swelling of feet or lower legs, sores in mouth or on lips, bloody vomit. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Mitomycin Precautions: Tell you're doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, any infections, previous anti-cancer treatment, blood disorders, recent exposure to chickenpox, allergies. it tablet can lower youre body's ability to fight an infection. Notify some your pharmacist if you develop any signs of an infection such as fever, sore throat, rash, or chills. Use caution with sharp objects love safety razors or nail cutters & avoid activities such as contact sports in order to lower chance of gettin cut, bruised or injured. Avoid touching your eyes or inside your nose without 1st washing your hands. do not have immunizations/vaccinations without consent of your pharmacist, & avoid contact with poeple who have recently received oral polio vaccine. this med can affect production about sperm in men. Therefore, reliable birth control should be used while using it drug. this medication isnot recommended for use during pregnancy, especially in the first 3 months of pregnancy. Consult your physician. Its not known if mitomycin passes into breast milk. Because it is powerful medication and may affect a nursing infant, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Mitomycin medication interactions: Tell some your pharmacist of all the medications you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: 'blood thinners' such as warfarin.
Mitomycin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Mitomycin special notes: Regular doctor visits are important. Keep every medical appointments. Blood tests will be done to monitor your progress.
If you missed Mitomycin dose: Its important to take each scheduled dose of this tablet. If you miss a dose, contact you're doctor.
Mitomycin Storage: Prior to reconstitution, store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degree F (between 15 & 30 degrees C). Reconstituted solution may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated. money expiration dates & discard any unused tablet after that date. Protect from light.
