Proparacaine Usage: Proparacaine is used at the eye as an anesthetic to numb pain that may occur during eye procedures (e.g., surgery).
How to use Proparacaine: Place this drug at the eyes usually just before procedure; or use as directed by your doctor. it may be necessary to repeat dose all 5 to 10 minutes but prolonged use is not recommended. Dosage is based on you're medical condition & response to therapy. To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch dropper tip or let it touch youre eye or any other surface. If you wearing contact lenses, remove them before using eye drops. then tilt you're head back, gaze upward, & pull down the lower eyelid to make pouch. Hold dropper directly over eye and instill the prescribed number of drops. see downward & gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at corner of eye near nose & apply gentle pressure. this will prevent the drug from draining away from eye. Try not to blink & do not rub eye. do not rinse dropper. Replace dropper cap after each use. If you using another kind of eye medication (e.g., drops or ointments), wait at least five minutes before applying other meds. Use eye drops before eye ointments, to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. this med solution should be clear to light yellow in color. If this is discolored (darker), do not use solution.
Proparacaine side effects: Redness, burning, or stinging of the eyes may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician. Tell your physician immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: eye pain, eye swelling, vision changes. Tell your doctor immediately if dryness or cracking about the skin on fingertips occurs. this may be sign about a skin allergy (e.g., allergic contact dermatitis). If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Proparacaine Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: other eye problems (e.g., cataracts, infections), allergies (especially medication allergies). Prolonged use of eye anesthetics isn't recommended; doing so could cause permanent eye problems (e.g., corneal opacities) or loss of vision. this tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. it isnt known if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Proparacaine med interactions: Tell you're doctor about every prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially about: other eye medications (drops or ointments). do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Proparacaine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this drug may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of an overdose may include, loss of vision or irregular heartbeat.

If you missed Proparacaine dose: If you miss dose, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist to establish new dosing schedule.
Proparacaine Storage: Refrigerate between 36 & 46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
