    Electrolyte solution - oral

    (ih-leck-troh-lite solution)

    Pedia Pop Usage: this solution restores fluids & minerals lost to diarrhea or vomiting.

    How to use Pedia Pop: do not add water. solution is ready-to-use. total amount to be given is determined by the severity of vomiting or diarrhea & the degree of dehydration. You may need to contact your doctor for the exact amount to be given & for how long. Generally one to 2 ounces per pound of body weight is given over a period of 2 to 4 hours in this manner: one teaspoonful every 10 to 15 minutes for 30 minutes; if this is tolerated, give one tablespoonful all 15 to 20 minutes followed by two tablespoonfuls every 30 minutes. If not tolerated or if diarrhea persists, contact the doctor. amount given each clock may be gradually increased until 4 to six ounces (120 to 180 ml) can be given all 3 to 4 hours so that 1 to 2 quarts (1 to 2 liters) are taken daily while diarrhea continues (adults may need more).

    Pedia Pop side effects: common side effect that usually goes away during treatment is mild vomiting. If it continues, call physician. Call healthcare professional immediately if any about following effects occur: convulsions or seizures, dizziness, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, irritability, muscle twitching, restlessness, weakness, swelling of feet or lower legs, puffy eyelids. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.

    Pedia Pop Precautions: it solution shouldn't be given when: they're is an inability to drink (as in cases of shock), persistent vomiting is present, stool losses greater than two ounces per pound of body weight (100ml per kg) per hour--this is about 2 quarts (2 liters) per hour for 30 pound (14 kg) kid, there is difficulty urinating, intestinal blockage is present. Call the healthcare professional immediately when signs about dehydration are present. These include: severe thirst, doughy skin, sunken eyes. Avoid another electrolyte-containing foods or liquids, such as fruit juices or foods with added salt, until treatment with this medicine is completed. Breast-fed infants should be given breast milk between doses of solution.

    Pedia Pop med interactions: Tell your pharmacist or physician if you are taking any other medication (including nonprescription), such as: home remedies for diarrhea or vomiting. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.

    Pedia Pop Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Pedia Pop special notes: Call pharmacist if diarrhea continues past 2 days or if it should become worse during treatment. Soft foods such as rice cereal, bananas, cooked peas, cooked beans & potatoes should be eaten until the diarrhea stops and regular food & milk can be taken again.

    If you missed Pedia Pop dose: this solution is given on an as-needed basis. Follow the package directions.

    Pedia Pop Storage: Store un-opened container at room temperature away from light, heat or moisture. do not store in bathroom. After using, replace cap, refrigerate (do not freeze) & use within 48 hours. do not re-use the container.
