    Hydrochlorothiazide w/amiloride - oral

    Warning: this drug can raise you're body's potassium levels. this is more likely to occur at person with kidney problems, diabetes, in elderly patients, or if patient is severely ill. Potassium levels must be closely monitored in people with any of these problems or illnesses. If not treated, high potassium levels can be fatal. If you develop any of next symptoms, notify your pharmacist immediately: muscle weakness, slow or irregular heartbeat.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz Usage: this combination drug is a diuretic or 'water pill'. it reduces amount of water and sodium retained by body. It's used to lower blood pressure and to treat edema (fluid retention).

    How to use Amiloride Hcl W Hctz: Take with food or milk to minimize stomach upset. Take this drug exactly as prescribed. do not skip doses, increase dose or stop taking drug with-out some your doctor's approval. Because this drug may increase urination, avoid taking a dose near bedtime. Try to take this at same time each day so you remember to take it.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz side effects: this drug may cause dizziness or vision changes. watch for signs of dehydration such as dry mouth or thirst. this drug may cause nausea, vomiting, change in appetite, headache or constipation first some days as your body adjusts to the drug. Notify some your pharmacist if you develop: muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, tingling of hands or feet, fatigue, difficulty urinating. it tablet may increase sensitivity to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. this may be necessary to wear protective clothing and sunscreen when outdoors. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek healthcare professional attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz Precautions: Before you take this drug tell your physician if you have: diabetes, kidney or liver disease, any medication allergies. Caution must be observed when eating large amounts of food high in potassium such as bananas, baked potatoes, cantaloupe, avocado, raisins, cooked spinach and other foods. Consult you're doctor or nutritionist. Alcoholic beverages may increase the effects of this drug, causing dizziness or lightheadedness. Limit alcohol intake. Use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness. Because it drug changes your fluid balance, you may feel dizzy if you change from a lying to a standing position too rapidly. Avoid it by sitting up few minutes before rising. If an illness causes severe vomiting or diarrhea, fluid balance in some your body canbe upset; contact your doctor. Unlike other diuretics, amiloride does not cause potassium loss from body. do not use salt substitutes without your doctor's permission. Caution is advised when using this medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of drug. Tell your doctor if you pregnant before using this medication. One of the components of it pill passes in to breast milk. some physicians recommend avoiding the use of hydrochlorothiazide for the 1st month about breast-feeding because it may decrease milk output. Consult your pharmacist before nursing.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz drug interactions: this pill is not recommended for use with: dofetilide. Ask your doctor or physician for more details. Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you are taking, especially of: captopril, digoxin, enalapril, lithium, potassium supplements, arthritis drugs, drugs for diabetes, HBP drugs. Tell your doctor if you take: spironolactone, triamterene. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include fainting, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, dizziness, confusion, unusually slow heartbeat, or seizures.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz special notes: It's important to continue taking this pill even if you don't experience symptoms about hypertension. do not allow anyone else to use this drug.

    If you missed Amiloride Hcl W Hctz dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if Its almost clock for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Amiloride Hcl W Hctz Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
