Vitamin D Usage: Vitamin D is fat-soluble vitamin which plays an important role in regulating calcium, phosphorus & minerals in the body & for promoting normal bone development. Vitamin D supplements used to treat and prevent vitamin D deficiencies (rickets); to regulate parathyroid hormone; to prevent & treat muscle cramps; to treat certain types of calcium & phosphate disorders.
How to use Vitamin D: Take it medication orally as directed. Swallow meds and capsules whole. do not crush or chew them. Carefully measure liquid doses of this drug using marked pill spoon.
Vitamin D side effects: it tablet is generally well tolerated. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience: nausea, loss about appetite, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination, muscle or bone pain, headache, weakness, weight loss, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or pharmacist.
Vitamin D Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney problems, thyroid disease. this medication should be used as directed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Consult you're physician about the risks and benefits.
Vitamin D drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, especially of: barbiturates, digoxin, phenytoin, verapamil. Avoid taking magnesium-containing antacids or mineral oil while taking vitamin D. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Vitamin D Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, unconsciousness, weakness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea or vomiting, stomach cramps, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, or irritability.
Vitamin D special notes: Vitamin D is commonly found at fresh-water fish, eggs, fortified milk and milk goods, sardines, chicken livers & cod liver oil. Follow any dietary guidelines recommended.
If you missed Vitamin D dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Vitamin D Storage: Store tablets & capsules at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
