Hydrocortisone Usage: it med reduces inflammation at bowel. It's used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
How to use Hydrocortisone: this is an enema which is administered rectally. it is usually used one time in the evening. for best results, use after bowel movement. Lie on youre left side with the left knee bent toward chest. Shake enema than unwrap it and gently insert the nozzle into rectum. Firmly squeeze bottle to release all of drug. whole bottle should be used unless otherwise directed. Continue laying on your left side for at least 30 minutes. Keep medicine in your rectum as long as possible before having bowel movement. Use this medication as directed. do not use this more often or continue using it for longer then prescribed. do not stop using this med without your doctor's approval. If you have been using this for over few weeks, you're dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Hydrocortisone side effects: Local pain or irritation, indigestion or increased appetite may occur. If these symptoms continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. Notify youre physician if you experience: rectal bleeding, muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, swelling of feet or hands, fatigue, mood changes. this drug can slow growth process in children if used for long periods. Discuss this with your doctor. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness, vision changes. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Hydrocortisone Precautions: Tell your physician if you have history about: kidney disease, heart or muscle disease, diabetes, infections, any eye problems, stomach disorders, any allergies. Tell your doctor you are using this medication prior to receiving any vaccinations. Though very unlikely, Its possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. this may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. this is especially true for children & for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. it precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Consult your pharmacist or pharmacist for more details. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with some your pharmacist. this isn't known if this pill is excreted into breast milk. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Hydrocortisone drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially: drugs for diabetes, heart med, blood pressure medications, steroids. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Hydrocortisone Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Hydrocortisone special notes: Follow-up appointments are important to ensure effective therapy. Keep all doctor's appointments. Inform every your pharmacists you use, or have used, this tablet.
If you missed Hydrocortisone dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; don't use it if It's near time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
