Warning: this pill has caused kidney problems, nerve damage or permanent hearing loss, even in usual doses. Hearing loss can occur even after the medication is stopped. If you already have kidney problems or hearing difficulty, tell you're doctor. Notify some your doctor immediately if any about the following occur: ringing in your ears, hearing loss, unusual change in amount of urine, dizziness, numbness, skin tingling, muscle twitching or seizures. this pill may be stopped if you develop kidney or hearing problems. your physician will monitor some your progress to minimize possibility of these effects occurring & may run certain tests (e.g., hearing and/or kidney tests). do not use this drug with other drugs that can cause nerve, kidney or hearing problems. other factors that increase risk of these side effects occurring include advanced age or dehydration (unusual thirst).
Amikacin Sulfate Usage: this drug is an antibiotic used to treat wide variety of serious bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, & infections of blood, abdomen or bones. this drug must be given by injection since it is poorly absorbed if taken by mouth.
How to use Amikacin Sulfate: this drug is given by injection. it may be injected into a large muscle such as buttocks or infused into vein over 30 minutes to one hour. It's usually given two or three times a day for 7 to 10 days. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in youre body is kept in constant level. Do it by using the med in evenly spaced intervals throughout day and night as prescribed. Continue using this for the full time prescribed. Stopping the medication too soon may result in ineffective treatment.
Amikacin Sulfate side effects: it drug can cause nausea, vomiting or weakness as youre body adjusts to medication. If these effects continue or become severe, inform your pharmacist. this medication may cause hearing loss or kidney damage especially if used in high doses or for prolonged periods of time. It's important the proper dose be used. site where injection is given may be red & irritated for several days. Notify your healthcare professional if the irritation continues or becomes worse. Notify your healthcare professional immediately if you develop: dizziness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, skin rash, difficulty breathing, difficult or painful urination, muscle twitching. Amikacin Sulfate Precautions: Before using this, tell your healthcare professional if you have: kidney disease, hearing disorders, muscle disorders, allergies (especially to antibiotics). Amikacin isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult you're pharmacist before using it drug. Small amounts of this drug have been detected in breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Amikacin Sulfate medication interactions: Tell you're doctor of any nonprescription or prescription medication you use, especially of: cephalosporins, penicillins, certain diuretics or 'water pills' (loop diuretics), neuromuscular blockers (e.g., halothane). do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Amikacin Sulfate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include change in amount of urine, difficulty breathing, dizziness, ringing in ear, or lightheadedness.

Amikacin Sulfate Storage: Vials should be stored at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from sunlight. Infusion bags may be refrigerated as directed. Allow the frozen IV bag to thaw and warm to room temperature before using. Allow refrigerated IV bag to sit at room temperature for one hour before using. dollars expiration date on label & properly discard of any unused medication after that time. Infusion bags can be stored for 24 hours at room temperature, since 60 days in 39 degrees F (4 degrees C) or frozen for 30 days at 5 degrees F (-15 degrees C). These solutions will retain potency for 24 hours at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). do not use if solution is dark at color.
