Dss Usage: this medication helps fluids to mix with stool to keep them from becoming hard or dry. It's used to treat constipation.

How to use Dss: Swallow capsules and tablets whole with a full glass about water or juice. the liquid and syrup forms must be given in 6 to 8 ounces about milk or juice to prevent throat irritation. Relief is usually obtained in 1 to 3 days after 1st dose.

Dss side effects: this medication may cause stomach ache, cramping or irritated throat (liquid & syrup forms). If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify you're doctor if you experience: skin rash, rectal bleeding, lack of bowel movements. Frequent use of laxatives can cause dehydration & loss of essential nutrients. Symptoms include muscle cramps, muscle weakness or dizziness. Maintain an adequate fluid intake while using this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or physician.

Dss Precautions: do not take aspirin (unless prescribed by your doctor) or mineral oil while taking stool softeners. If you pregnant or breast-feeding, do not take over-the-counter stool softeners (or any other nonprescription medication) without obtaining youre doctor's advice.

Dss drug interactions: it drug isn't recommended for use with mineral oil. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more info. Tell some your pharmacist about every prescription and nonprescription drug you may use, especially aspirin.

Dss Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Dss special notes: Laxatives should only be used temporarily until normal bowel habits return. Prolonged use can lead to laxative dependence. To prevent constipation: drink 4 to 6 glasses of water daily, include bulk or roughage in your diet, & exercise regularly.

If you missed Dss dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if Its almost time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
