Medi Bismuth Usage: this medication is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps & to prevent traveler's diarrhea.
How to use Medi Bismuth: the liquid form of this medication should be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly or dissolved at mouth. Non-chewable meds & caplets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. the dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken at 24 hour period.
Medi Bismuth side effects: this medication is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking this drug. do not be alarmed. this will disappear when tablet is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or doctor.
Medi Bismuth Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially drug allergies). it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. since small amounts about this medication found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Medi Bismuth drug interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take, including: aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics, drugs for diabetes, medications for gout. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Medi Bismuth Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include ringing in ears, dizziness, confusion, & coma.
Medi Bismuth special notes: If condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify your doctor.
If you missed Medi Bismuth dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time since following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Medi Bismuth Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. liquid may be stored in the refrigerator to improve the taste, but it is not necessary. don't store in bathroom.
