Guaifenesin/decongestant/narcotic antitussive liquid - oral
Mintuss G Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosen mucus. decongestant relieves nasal stuffiness. low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control cough. this combination medication is used to treat cough and relieve symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Mintuss G: this medication is best taken with, or after, a meal or snack. Take it medication as prescribed. do not increase youre dose or take this more many times than directed.
Mintuss G side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or anxiety may occur the 1st several days as youre body adjusts to the pill. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Mintuss G Precautions: Tell some your pharmacist if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, hypertension, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history about pill dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. check it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain it product has PPA. this product must be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your physician. at least one about the ingredients in this combination product is known to be excreted in to breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Mintuss G drug interactions: Tell you're doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription pill you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), cimetidine. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Mintuss G Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slow or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, small pupils, severe drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Mintuss G special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Mintuss G dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Mintuss G Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
