Colchicine Usage: this medication is used in the treatment of gout. it relieves symptoms of gout & helps prevent further attacks. Its also used to prevent and treat the symptoms of certain other diseases that affect joints, skin and internal organs.
How to use Colchicine: To control a gout attack, start using this medication at 1st signs of an attack. Stop using it as soon as gout pain is relieved or in the 1st signs of stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Follow your doctor's directions since use at another conditions & consult youre healthcare professional or physician if you have any questions.
Colchicine side effects: Stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting may occur as you're body adjusts to medication. Inform your doctor if these effects persist for 3 hours or longer after you have stopped taking colchicine. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience pain, redness or swelling in place of injection. Notify your physician if you develop: yellowing about eyes or skin, sore throat, fever, chills, easy bruising or bleeding, muscle weakness, numbness or tingling of hands or feet, fatigue, skin rash, bloody urine, diarrhea, burning feeling in stomach/skin or throat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or healthcare professional.
Colchicine Precautions: Alcohol can decrease effectiveness of this medication. Limit alcohol consumption while taking this. Tell your physician your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, stomach or intestinal problems, heart problems, bleeding disorders. Before having surgery, including dental surgery, tell your doctor you are taking colchicine. Colchicine isnt recommended since use during pregnancy. Consult your physician for details. this med passes in to breast milk. the effects on a nursing infant are in question. Consult your pharmacist before you breast-feed.
Colchicine medication interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription medications you may use, especially of: NSAID (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, phenylbutazone). If you to take urine test while using it drug, tell physician or laboratory personnel that you taking colchicine because colchicine may affect the test results.
Colchicine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Colchicine special notes: Colchicine relieves pain but only pain associated with gout. it should not be used for any another type about pain. do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
If you missed Colchicine dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if Its almost time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Colchicine Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight.
