Urecholine Usage: Bethanechol is used to treat incomplete emptying of bladder (urinary retention).
Urecholine canbe used also for: this drug may also be used for digestive problems such as gastroesophageal reflux (GERD).
How to use Urecholine: Take this medication on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after meals unless otherwise directed by your healthcare professional. Nausea or vomiting can occur if this is taken with food. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication unless youre physician directs you otherwise. Take this drug as prescribed. do not increase the dose or take it more frequently with-out consulting your pharmacist.
Urecholine side effects: this drug can cause stomach ache, excessive sweating, dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, or increased salivation during the first few days as you're body adjusts to the drug. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your pharmacist. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're physician or physician.
Urecholine Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, especially: asthma, bladder problems, epilepsy, Parkinsonism, blood pressure problems, heart disease, overactive thyroid gland, stomach/ intestinal problems, any allergies. Because it med can cause dizziness or lightheadedness when rising quickly from lying to standing position, change positions slowly. Also, use caution when performing tasks requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Bethanechol should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with some your healthcare professional. It's not known if bethanechol is excreted in to breast milk. Consult you're healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Urecholine drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription meds you may use, especially: procainamide, quinidine, medications for colds or nasal congestion. Bethanechol can affect certain blood test results. Remind your physician you are taking it pill before any blood tests are ordered. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Urecholine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting, salivation, flushing, & sweating.
Urecholine special notes: do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
If you missed Urecholine dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered if you should remember within 2 hours of missed dose. If you remember past 2 hours, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Urecholine Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom.
