    Electrolyte solution - oral

    (ih-leck-troh-lite solution)

    Pedia Electrolite Usage: this solution restores fluids and minerals lost to diarrhea or vomiting.

    How to use Pedia Electrolite: do not add water. solution is ready-to-use. total amount to be given is determined by the severity of vomiting or diarrhea and degree about dehydration. You may need to contact youre healthcare professional for the exact amount to be given & since how long. Generally one to two ounces per pound of body weight is given over period about 2 to four hours in this manner: one teaspoonful every 10 to 15 minutes for 30 minutes; if this is tolerated, give one tablespoonful all 15 to 20 minutes followed by two tablespoonfuls all 30 minutes. If not tolerated or if diarrhea persists, contact pharmacist. amount given each time may be gradually increased until 4 to 6 ounces (120 to 180 ml) canbe given every 3 to four hours so that 1 to 2 quarts (1 to two liters) are taken per day while the diarrhea continues (adults may need more).

    Pedia Electrolite side effects: common side effect that usually goes away during treatment is mild vomiting. If it continues, call doctor. Call pharmacist immediately if any of following effects occur: convulsions or seizures, dizziness, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, irritability, muscle twitching, restlessness, weakness, swelling of feet or lower legs, puffy eyelids. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Pedia Electrolite Precautions: this solution should not be given when: theyre is an inability to drink (as in cases of shock), persistent vomiting is present, stool losses are greater than two ounces per pound of body weight (100ml per kg) per hour--this is about 2 quarts (2 liters) per hour for a 30 pound (14 kg) children, they're is difficulty urinating, intestinal blockage is present. Call the physician immediately when signs of dehydration present. These include: severe thirst, doughy skin, sunken eyes. Avoid other electrolyte-containing foods or liquids, such as fruit juices or foods with added salt, until treatment with this medicine is completed. Breast-fed infants should be given breast milk between doses of solution.

    Pedia Electrolite drug interactions: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other drug (including nonprescription), such as: home remedies for diarrhea or vomiting. don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.

    Pedia Electrolite Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Pedia Electrolite special notes: Call the healthcare professional if diarrhea continues past two days or if it should become worse during treatment. Soft foods such as rice cereal, bananas, cooked peas, cooked beans & potatoes should be eaten until the diarrhea stops & regular food & milk canbe taken again.

    If you missed Pedia Electrolite dose: it solution is given on an as-needed basis. Follow package directions.

    Pedia Electrolite Storage: Store un-opened container in room temperature away from light, heat or moisture. do not store in the bathroom. After using, replace cap, refrigerate (do not freeze) & use within 48 hours. don't re-use container.
