Tussin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. it combination med is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tussin DM: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.
Tussin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur first several days as youre body adjusts to the pill. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your physician if you develop any of these effects while taking it medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if it medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Tussin DM Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with youre healthcare professional. since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult you're pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Tussin DM drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Tussin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Tussin DM special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Tussin DM dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if Its near time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Tussin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
