Bismuth Liq Usage: this medication is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps and to prevent traveler's diarrhea.
How to use Bismuth Liq: the liquid form about this drug must be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable meds should be chewed thoroughly or dissolved in the mouth. Non-chewable pills and caplets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. the dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken in a 24 hour period.
Bismuth Liq side effects: this medication is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking this medication. do not be alarmed. this will disappear when the drug is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Bismuth Liq Precautions: Tell youre doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially drug allergies). it medication must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. since small amounts of this medication found in breast milk, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Bismuth Liq medication interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take, including: aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics, drugs for diabetes, drugs since gout. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Bismuth Liq Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ringing in ears, dizziness, confusion, & coma.
Bismuth Liq special notes: If condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify youre healthcare professional.
If you missed Bismuth Liq dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Bismuth Liq Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. the liquid may be stored in refrigerator to improve taste, but it is not necessary. do not store in the bathroom.
