Warning: Methylphenidate must be given cautiously to emotionally unstable patients such as those with history of alcohol or drug abuse. Such patients may be more likely to increase their doses unnecessarily. Abuse of it medication can lead to abnormal behavior. If methylphenidate must be stopped, it must be stopped gradually over clock. do not suddenly stop this medication because severe depression or hidden overactivity may occur. in some human, long-term monitoring may be required after the pill is stopped.

Methylphenidate HCL Usage: it medication increases mental alertness. it is used in treatment of narcolepsy (problems staying awake). this is also used in treatment of hyperactivity or attention deficit disorder. Additionally It's used for treating depression in senile, post-stroke & cancer patients.
How to use Methylphenidate HCL: this medication must be swallowed whole. Chewing or crushing them can destroy long action and may increase side effects. it medication is best taken 30-45 minutes before meals. If loss of appetite or stomach upset occurs. it may be taken with or after meal or snack. Use this medication exactly as prescribed. don't increase your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed because this drug canbe habit-forming. Also, if used for a long period about time, do not suddenly stop using this without first consulting your healthcare professional. When used for extended periods, it medication may not work as well & may require different dosing. Consult you're pharmacist if the medication isn't working well.
Methylphenidate HCL side effects: Loss of appetite, blurred vision, dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, headache, stomach upset, sleeplessness, irritability or constipation may occur the first few days as youre body adjusts to medication. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience: weight loss, chest pain, nervousness, pounding heart, difficulty urinating, mood changes, yellowing eyes & skin. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or doctor.
Methylphenidate HCL Precautions: Tell your pharmacist youre medical history, especially about: seizures or motor tics, Tourette's disorder, glaucoma, HBP, severe anxiety, alcoholism, drug dependence, mental conditions, any allergies. If this med makes you dizzy or lightheaded, use caution driving or engaging in activities requiring alertness. Methylphenidate should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed. Discuss risks and benefits with you're doctor. It's not known if methylphenidate is excreted into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Methylphenidate HCL drug interactions: Certain medications taken with it drug could result in serious, even fatal, drug interactions. Methylphenidate HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dilated pupils, vomiting, nervousness, twitching, tremors, flushing, sweating, severe or persistent headache, seizures, & loss of consciousness.

If you missed Methylphenidate HCL dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered & take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced times. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Methylphenidate HCL Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. don't store in the bathroom.
