Rehydralyte Usage: this solution restores fluids & minerals lost to diarrhea or vomiting.
How to use Rehydralyte: do not add water. the solution is ready-to-use. total amount to be given is determined by the severity of vomiting or diarrhea and the degree of dehydration. You may need to contact youre doctor for exact amount to be given and for how long. Generally one to two ounces per pound about body weight is given over a period about two to 4 hours in it manner: one teaspoonful every 10 to 15 minutes for 30 minutes; if this is tolerated, give one tablespoonful every 15 to 20 minutes followed by two tablespoonfuls all 30 minutes. If not tolerated or if diarrhea persists, contact doctor. amount given each time may be gradually increased until 4 to 6 ounces (120 to 180 ml) can be given every 3 to 4 hours so that 1 to 2 quarts (1 to 2 liters) taken per day while the diarrhea continues (adults may need more).
Rehydralyte side effects: common side effect that usually goes away during treatment is mild vomiting. If it continues, call physician. Call healthcare professional immediately if any of the following effects occur: convulsions or seizures, dizziness, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, irritability, muscle twitching, restlessness, weakness, swelling of feet or lower legs, puffy eyelids. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Rehydralyte Precautions: it solution must not be given when: there is an inability to drink (as in cases about shock), persistent vomiting is present, stool losses are greater than two ounces per pound of body weight (100ml per kg) per hour--this is about 2 quarts (2 liters) per hour for 30 pound (14 kg) child, they're is difficulty urinating, intestinal blockage is present. Call healthcare professional immediately when signs about dehydration present. These include: severe thirst, doughy skin, sunken eyes. Avoid other electrolyte-containing foods or liquids, such as fruit juices or foods with added salt, until treatment with this medicine is completed. Breast-fed infants must be given breast milk between doses of the solution.
Rehydralyte drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional or physician if you taking any other medication (including nonprescription), such as: home remedies for diarrhea or vomiting. do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or healthcare professional approval.
Rehydralyte Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Rehydralyte special notes: Call the doctor if diarrhea continues past two days or if it should become worse during treatment. Soft foods such as rice cereal, bananas, cooked peas, cooked beans & potatoes should be eaten until the diarrhea stops & regular food and milk can be taken again.
If you missed Rehydralyte dose: this solution is given on an as-needed basis. Follow package directions.
Rehydralyte Storage: Store un-opened container at room temperature away from light, heat or moisture. do not store in the bathroom. After using, replace cap, refrigerate (do not freeze) and use within 48 hours. do not re-use container.
