Maxi Tuss HC Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. antihistamine is for relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. this combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Maxi Tuss HC: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this med is best taken with a full glass about water after meal or snack.
Maxi Tuss HC side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry mouth may occur first few days as youre body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit you're intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or healthcare professional.
Maxi Tuss HC Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, hypertension, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history of med dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. cash this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts about this medication are found in breast milk, consult some your physician before breast-feeding.
Maxi Tuss HC drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure medications, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this tablet. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or doctor approval.
Maxi Tuss HC Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, weakness, profuse sweating, slow or fast heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, hyperactivity, fever, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Maxi Tuss HC special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Maxi Tuss HC dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Maxi Tuss HC Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
