    Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with dex-trow-meth-or-fan)

    common brand names: Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM

    Maxi Tuss DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. it combination med is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Maxi Tuss DM: Take this drug as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take it more many of times than directed. Capsules and long-acting pills must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased.

    Maxi Tuss DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the 1'st several days as youre body adjusts to drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. Notify youre physician if you develop any of these effects while taking this medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this drug makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

    Maxi Tuss DM Precautions: Tell you're doctor your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this drug must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts about this tablet found at breast milk, consult your physician before breast-feeding.

    Maxi Tuss DM drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Maxi Tuss DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

    Maxi Tuss DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.

    If you missed Maxi Tuss DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near the time for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Maxi Tuss DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
