Dextromethorphan/decongestant/antihistamine - oral

Codituss DM Usage: Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose & throat and itchy, watery eyes. it combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.

How to use Codituss DM: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase you're dose or take this more many times then directed. Capsules & long-acting pills must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. don't crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance about side effects will be increased. liquid suspension form of this med must be shaken well before using.

Codituss DM side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur 1-st some days as your body adjusts to medication. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit you're intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify youre doctor if you develop any about the following effects while using this medication: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.

Codituss DM Precautions: Tell some your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any allergies. check it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it med should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're pharmacist. since small amounts about it medication are found in breast milk, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

Codituss DM med interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: blood pressure tablet, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain drugs (e.g., codeine). Limit you're intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this tablet. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Codituss DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, loss of coordination, slow or shallow breathing, sweating, dizziness, headache, hyperactivity, bizarre behavior, seizures, slow or quick heartbeat, or unconsciousness.

Codituss DM special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking it medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

If you missed Codituss DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Codituss DM Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
