    Cyclopentolate hydrochloride - eye drops

    (sye-kloe-pen-toe-late)

    common brand names: Cyclogyl, Cylate, Pentolair

    Cylate Usage: this medication is used to widen pupil about the eye before an exam or surgery.

    How to use Cylate: To apply eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. Tilt youre head back, gaze upward and pull down lower eyelid to make pouch. Place dropper directly over eye & administer prescribed number about drops. watch downward and gently close you're eye for 1 to two minutes. Place one finger at the corner of eye near nose & apply gentle pressure. this will prevent the med from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink & don't rub eye. don't rinse dropper. Replace cap after use. If you are using this medicine in child's eyes do not get any medicine in child's mouth. Wash your hands and your child's hands to remove any medicine from them. do not feed an infant for 4 hours after the infant's eye exam. effect about this medicine may last for 24 hours or more.

    Cylate side effects: burning sensation in eyes, eye sensitivity to light, blurred vision or drowsiness (very uncommon) may occur. If these persist or worsen, notify youre healthcare professional promptly. Unlikely but report promptly: an unusually quick heartbeat, change in behavior/mood, mental changes, eye pain/swelling/red- ness, headache, fever. Very unlikely but report promptly dizziness, slow or shallow breathing or seizures. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Cylate Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, including: allergies, eye problems (including glaucoma), brain disorders, heart disease. Caution is advised performing tasks requiring great vision (e.g. driving) since this medicine may cause eyes to be sensitive to light or blurred vision. Sunglasses advised. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. this isn't known whether this med is excreted into breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding. Caution is advised when this drug is used in children since this group may be more sensitive to side effects of this drug. Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly for it group may be more sensitive to side effects of this drug.

    Cylate drug interactions: Tell youre pharmacist of all nonprescription & prescription medication you may use, especially of: carbachol, pilocarpine, other eye medications. don't start or stop any medicine with-out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.

    Cylate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Cylate special notes: do not share this medication with others.

    Cylate Storage: Store at room temperature between 46 & 80 degrees F (8-27 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
