Uniphyl Usage: this medication improves breathing by opening air passages in lungs. it is used in treatment of asthma, chronic bronchitis, & emphysema.
How to use Uniphyl: this med is usually taken one time a day. Swallow each med whole. do not crush or chew the med. it may destroy long action & increase possibility of side effects. this tablet should be taken with the evening meal (between 6PM to 8PM) for best results this medication works best if constant level is maintained at body. Do it by taking doses in the same time everyday.
Uniphyl side effects: Dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, restlessness, nervousness, sleeplessness, or increased urination may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Inform your pharmacist if you experience: chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, confusion, severe stomach pain. in unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to this tablet, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or doctor.
Uniphyl Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially: heart disease, stomach/intestinal ulcers, liver disease, recent fever, thyroid problems, seizures, any pill or food allergies. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. Theophylline is excreted into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Uniphyl drug interactions: Inform your healthcare professional of all medicines you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially: cimetidine, erythromycin, troleandomycin, mexiletine, tacrine, barbiturates, disulfiram, rifampin, thiabendazole, birth control pills, rifabutin, ticlopidine, quinolone antibiotics, beta- blockers, phenytoin, halothane (an anesthetic), zileuton, allopurinol, lithium, carbamazepine, fluvoxamine (an SSRI antidepressant), St John's wort. Avoid drinking large amounts of beverages containing caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea, colas) or eating big amounts of chocolate. Caffeine can increase side effects of this medication. Smoking affects it drug. Be sure to tell your physician if you smoke or use nicotine. Inform your healthcare professional if you stop smoking. your dose may need to be adjusted. do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Uniphyl Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include fast or irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting, unusual nervousness or restlessness, agitation, irritability, headache, & seizures.
Uniphyl special notes: do not change your diet with-out 1st checking with you're physician. big amounts of char-broiled foods or a high protein, low carbohydrate diet can affect the action of this pill. don't change brands about this medication with-out consulting your pharmacist or pharmacist. Not every brands are identical in action.
If you missed Uniphyl dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take if Its almost clock for next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Uniphyl Storage: Store in room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. don't store in the bathroom.
