Alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor - injection

Prolastin Usage: this drug is used in people that lack alpha-1- antitrypsin & have developed panacinar emphysema.

How to use Prolastin: this drug is given by injection into vein usually 1 time a week.

Prolastin side effects: Lightheadedness, dizziness & slight fever have been reported as a result of this med. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.

Prolastin Precautions: Tell you're pharmacist if you have any about next conditions: illnesses, any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your physician. it is not known if it medication is found in breast milk. Consult some your physician before breast-feeding.

Prolastin medication interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

Prolastin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Prolastin special notes: this drug is prepared from donor plasma. It's tested and heat-treated to prevent spread of infectious agents. Although they're no cases of hepatitis occurring at patients treated with this medication, theyre is a slight risk. It's recommended that hepatitis B vaccine be received before using it medication.

If you missed Prolastin dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take this if It's near clock for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Prolastin Storage: Store in refrigerator between 36 & 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C), or in temperature not to exceed 77 degrees F (25 C). do not freeze. do not refrigerate after mixing. Discard unused solution after 3 hours.
