    Magnesium salicylate - phenyltoloxamine - oral

    (mag-nee-zee-um sal-iss-uh-late w/fen-ull-toll-ox-uh-meen)

    common brand names: Magsal, Mobigesic

    Warning: children and teenagers should not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related drugs for flu symptoms or chickenpox with-out 1st consulting physician. a rare but serious illness known as Reye's syndrome may occur.

    Myogesic Usage: this medication is a combination of an anti-inflammatory agent & an antihistamine used to relieve pain & swelling (inflammation) of arthritis.

    How to use Myogesic: Take this drug by mouth, generally 3 to 4 times daily with food or full glass of milk (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by your doctor. the dosage is based on youre medical condition and response to therapy.

    Myogesic side effects: Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness & dry mouth may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify you're doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. Tell your healthcare professional immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: stomach pain, black stools, vomiting of material that looks love coffee grounds, ringing in ears, hearing loss, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, blurred vision, a change at amount of urine. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate healthcare attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Myogesic Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, especially of: kidney or liver problems, heart disease, bleeding disorders, stomach/intestinal ulcers, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma (narrow angle), asthma, allergies (especially to aspirin or NSAID such as ibuprofen). this pill may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this medicine can cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol and this medicine may increase some your risk for stomach bleeding. Inform your dentist or doctor that you are using this medication, especially before surgery. Caution is advised when prescribing or using this drug in elderly since they may be more sensitive to the effects about drug. this medicine contains a drug similar to aspirin. kid and teenagers shouldnot take it medication if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness with out 1st consulting a doctor about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. this med should be used only when clearly needed during the 1st 6 months of pregnancy; Its not recommended for use during the last 5 months of pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with you're doctor before using this drug. it drug passes at to breast milk. Consult youre healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Myogesic drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially about: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin and other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), acetazolamide, diabetes medications (e.g., sulfonylureas such as chlorpropamide, tolbutamide), methotrexate. Also report use about drugs that cause drowsiness such as: sleeping tablets, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure meds (e.g. phenytoin), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). money labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products or pain relievers/fever reducers) because they can contain drowsiness-causing ingredients, or aspirin-like NSAIDs. Ask youre healthcare professional about safe use about those products. this drug may interfere with certain laboratory tests, including certain urine sugar tests for diabetics (such as Clinistix, Tes-Tape or Clinitest). Inform laboratory personnel that you are taking this drug. Ask you're pharmacist for more details. don't start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Myogesic Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, quick or deep breathing, ringing in ears, abnormal behavior, exhaustion, & loss of consciousness.

    Myogesic special notes: don't share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g. liver function tests) may be performed to monitor your progress.

    If you missed Myogesic dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If Its near the time of the following dose, skip missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    Myogesic Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
