Guaifenex DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. this combination med is used to treat cough associated with common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Guaifenex DM: Take this med as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules and long-acting meds must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased.
Guaifenex DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as youre body adjusts to the med. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. Notify your physician if you develop any of these effects while taking it drug: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this tablet makes you feel dizzy. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're pharmacist or physician.
Guaifenex DM Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with you're doctor. since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guaifenex DM drug interactions: Tell youre physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Guaifenex DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Guaifenex DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Guaifenex DM dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if It's near time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Guaifenex DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
