Dextromethorphan/decongestant/antihistamine - oral

Codimal DM Usage: Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose & throat & itchy, watery eyes. this combination drug is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.

How to use Codimal DM: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass of water. don't crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased. the liquid suspension form of this med must be shaken well before using.

Codimal DM side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the 1st some days as your body adjusts to drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit you're intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify youre doctor if you develop any about next effects while using this pill: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. Codimal DM medication interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: blood pressure drug, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping tablets, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain medications (e.g., codeine). Limit some your intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.

Codimal DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, loss of coordination, slow or shallow breathing, sweating, dizziness, headache, hyperactivity, bizarre behavior, seizures, slow or fast heartbeat, or unconsciousness.

Codimal DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

If you missed Codimal DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Codimal DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
