    Magnesium salicylate - oral

    (mag-nee-zee-um sal-iss-uh-late)

    common brand names: Doan's, Momentum

    Doan's Regular Usage: it drug is an anti-inflammatory agent used to relieve pain, reduce swelling (inflammation) about arthritis & reduce fever.

    How to use Doan's Regular: Take this medication by mouth with food or full glass of milk or water (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by your doctor. dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. If you are taking this drug for pain or fever & they're is no improvement within 5 days, stop taking this drug & consult you're healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Doan's Regular side effects: Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify youre doctor. Tell youre pharmacist immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, ringing in the ears, changes at your hearing. If you notice any about following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking this drug & consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: bloody or black stools, coffee-ground vomit, persistent stomach/abdominal pain. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely but seek immeditial healthcare professional attention if this occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice any other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Doan's Regular Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney or liver disease, stomach/intestinal ulcers, any allergies (especially to aspirin). this pill can cause stomach bleeding. daily use about alcohol and this drug may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of the drug. children & teenagers should not take it med if they have chicken pox, influenza, or any undiagnosed illness with out first consulting a doctor about Reye's syndrome, rare but serious illness. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with youre physician. Magnesium salicylate is excreted into breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    Doan's Regular drug interactions: Tell youre doctor of all prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin, another NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, enalapril), acetazolamide, oral diabetic medicine (e.g., chlorpropamide, glyburide, tolbutamide), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), methotrexate, anti-seizure medication (e.g., phenytoin, valproic acid), tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline). check the labels on every your medicines because they can contain aspirin or aspirin-like NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen). Ask you're pharmacist about the safe use of these products. it medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests. Inform laboratory personnel that you are taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Doan's Regular Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, severe vomiting, change in amount of urine, rapid and shallow breathing.

    Doan's Regular special notes: do not share it med with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor for side effects or response to treatment. If you have diabetes, this med may affect your blood sugar & may cause false test results with some urine glucose tests (e.g., Clinistix, Clinitest). dollars with your healthcare professional before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.

    If you missed Doan's Regular dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near time about the next dose, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Doan's Regular Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
