Activase Usage: this drug is an enzyme which works to break up & dissolve blood clots which can block arteries. it is used in the treatment of an acute heart attack or pulmonary embolism.
How to use Activase: this tablet is given by injection within six hours about chest pain by a health care professional. it is usually given over a two to three hour period. Continued or repeated doses not usually required. it is important this drug be used as prescribed. Its most effective when administered as soon as possible after symptoms of a heart attack appear.
Activase side effects: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness or mild fever may occur. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify youre pharmacist if you experience: easy bruising or bleeding, skin rash, trouble breathing, rapid or abnormal heartbeat, chest pain. Immediately report any signs about bleeding to your pharmacist. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Activase Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially of: bleeding disorders, HBP, recent injury or surgery, liver disease, endocarditis, any allergies. Use extra caution to avoid injury & trauma while using it pill due to increased risk of bleeding. it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with youre physician. it is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding.
Activase drug interactions: Tell you're physician about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), aspirin. don't start or stop any medicine with-out physician or pharmacist approval.
Activase Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include fainting, vision changes, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, black stools, coughing up or vomiting blood, dizziness upon standing.
Activase special notes: Laboratory tests will be done frequently while using this drug to monitor It's effects & to prevent side effects.
If you missed Activase dose: Continued or repeated doses are usually not necessary for this drug.
Activase Storage: Store in cool area as directed & protect from light. Discard any unused medication after expiration date on label.
