Minirin Usage: this med acts to decrease urine output. this controls excessive thirst and urination & prevents dehydration. this is used in treatment of diabetes insipidus or in surgery, injury or other conditions where reduced urination is necessary. in children, this med is used to control bed-wetting.
How to use Minirin: this medication is used in the nose as a nasal spray. usual dose 1 to 4 sprays daily & depends on youre medical condition and response to it drug. Patient instructions provided with product. Make sure you understand how to use medication properly. Use it medication exactly as prescribed. do not use it more frequently without youre doctor's approval. Limit drinking of water or other fluids while taking this medication.
Minirin side effects: this drug may cause headache, runny nose, nausea, stomach ache or flushing about the face. If any about these effects persist or worsen, inform your pharmacist. Notify your doctor if you develop: stomach cramps. at unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Minirin Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional you're medical history, especially of: heart disease, lung disease, nasal congestion, any allergies. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of the pill, especially fluid/sodium imbalances in the blood. Tell your physician if you are pregnant before using this medication. it is not known if this tablet is excreted in to breast milk. Consult you're physician before breast-feeding.
Minirin drug interactions: Tell your doctor about all prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially about: carbamazepine, chlorpropamide, demeclocycline, water tablets (diuretics), drugs that increase blood pressure (e.g., dopamine, epinephrine, ephedrine, levophed). Ask your doctor how much, if any, alcohol you may drink. Alcohol interferes with action of desmopressin by increasing urination. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Minirin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Minirin special notes: Laboratory tests may be done to monitor your progress. at addition, the amount of fluid you drink may be monitored. don't allow anyone else to use this medication.
If you missed Minirin dose: If you miss dose and use 1 dose daily: use as soon as remembered unless you do not remember until following day. If that is the case, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. If you use more than 1 dose daily: use as soon as remembered unless this is almost time for next dose; if so, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Minirin Storage: Store in the refrigerator. do not freeze. If stored at room temperature, discard after 3 weeks.
