Aluminum Hydroxide Usage: Aluminum hydroxide is an antacid. this neutralizes & reduces stomach acid relieving heartburn (acid reflux, GERD) & indigestion. it is used to treat an upset stomach, ulcers, or other digestive disorders.
Aluminum Hydroxide can be used also for: this drug may also be used in certain kidney conditions to reduce phosphate levels.
How to use Aluminum Hydroxide: Take it medication as directed usually between meals & at bedtime. do not take more then is prescribed. Too many antacid can actually increase amount of acid the stomach produces. Shake well before pouring each dose.
Aluminum Hydroxide side effects: this medication is generally well tolerated. Loss of appetite or constipation may occur. Notify your physician if you: vomit coffee ground-like matter, develop dark/tar-like stools. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Aluminum Hydroxide Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: stomach problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). this pill must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're pharmacist. Small amounts about this med may be excreted in breast milk. Consult you're healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Aluminum Hydroxide drug interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take, especially about: iron, tetracycline, oral anti-diabetic medication, digoxin. Antacids can interfere with absorption of many other drugs. Be sure to check with you're pharmacist before taking antacids with any other drug. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Aluminum Hydroxide Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe constipation, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, drowsiness.
Aluminum Hydroxide special notes: this med is available in various forms: liquid, suspension, capsules or tablets. some of liquid be more pleasant tasting than others. Ask your physician or pharmacist to help choose the best product for you.
If you missed Aluminum Hydroxide dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take this if this is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Aluminum Hydroxide Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. this may be stored in refrigerator to improve taste.
