    Phenothiazines - oral

    Trifluoperazine HCL Usage: this drug is used to treat mental/emotional conditions. it is also used to treat nausea and vomiting & may be used for other conditions as determined by your pharmacist.

    How to use Trifluoperazine HCL: Take with food or milk if stomach upset occurs unless directed otherwise by youre physician. some your dosage is based on you're condition & response to medication. Take this medication exactly as prescribed. do not increase you're dose or stop taking this drug without 1-st consulting your doctor. in treatment of mental or emotional conditions, it may take up to two weeks for full benefit to be noticed.

    Trifluoperazine HCL side effects: Constipation, drowsiness, vision changes or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician. it medication can cause dizziness and lightheadedness. To minimize these effects, get up slowly when rising from seated or lying position. Unlikely to occur but report promptly: restlessness, muscle stiffness, weakness, difficulty speaking, loss of balance, mask- like facial expression, trembling or shaking, dizziness, lip smacking or other uncontrollable movements, difficulty urinating, skin rash/discoloration. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly: sore throat, unusual bleeding/bruising, stomach pain, yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, hot dry skin, vomiting. Though very unlikely to occur, notify your healthcare professional immediately if you experience any of the following effects: severe muscle stiffness, confusion, fever, seizures, irregular/fast heartbeat, increased sweating, prolonged/painful erection. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.

    Trifluoperazine HCL Precautions: Tell your doctor you're medical history, especially of: very high or low blood pressure, liver or heart disease, Reye's syndrome, alcohol or drug dependencies, nervous system problems, blood disorders, any allergies (especially drug allergies). Use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving or operating machinery. Use of alcohol may cause extreme drowsiness. Avoid alcohol use. it pill may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure & wear sunscreen & protective clothing when you exposed to the sun. this drug can reduce sweating making you more susceptible to heat stroke. Avoid strenuous work or exercise in hot weather. Elderly patients are more sensitive to effects about it med. Use cautiously. children should be monitored closely while using this drug. this tablet should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Certain phenothiazines known to be excreted into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.

    Trifluoperazine HCL drug interactions: Inform your doctor about every medications you use (both prescription & nonprescription) especially: anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drugs, sparfloxacin, grepafloxacin, guanethidine, guanadrel, cisapride, metrizamide, cabergoline, lithium, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), drugs that help you sleep, muscle relaxants, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), any another drugs that cause drowsiness. much of of cough-and-cold products contain ingredients that may add drowsiness effect. Before using cough-and-cold medications, ask some your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of those goods. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Trifluoperazine HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include, restlessness, confusion, excitement, weakness, fatigue, fainting, dizziness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, small pupil size, tremors, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, excessive drowsiness, very low body temperature, or seizures.

    Trifluoperazine HCL special notes: don't share this tablet with others.

    If you missed Trifluoperazine HCL dose: If you miss dose and take 1 dose daily, take it as soon as remembered unless It's almost time for the following dose. in that case, skip missed dose and resume your usual schedule. If you take more then 1 dose per day, take it as soon as possible if it is within an hour or so of the missed dose. If not remembered within an hour, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Trifluoperazine HCL Storage: Store below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture. do not store in bathroom. Keep out of reach of child.
