Guaifenesin/decongestant/narcotic antitussive liquid - oral
Codafed Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosen mucus. the decongestant relieves nasal stuffiness. low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. this combination medication is used to treat a cough & relieve symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Codafed: this medication is best taken with, or after, a meal or snack. Take this medication as prescribed. do not increase some your dose or take it more often than directed.
Codafed side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss about appetite, nausea or anxiety may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit youre intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify you're doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Codafed Precautions: Tell you're physician if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, a history of drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this drug causes you to feel drowsy. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain it product has PPA. this product should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. at least one of the ingredients at this combination product is known to be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Codafed pill interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), cimetidine. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Codafed Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include slow or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, small pupils, severe drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Codafed special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Codafed dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Codafed Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
