Alternagel Usage: Aluminum hydroxide is an antacid. it neutralizes & reduces stomach acid relieving heartburn (acid reflux, GERD) & indigestion. it is used to treat an upset stomach, ulcers, or other digestive disorders.

Alternagel canbe used also since: it medication may also be used in certain kidney conditions to reduce phosphate levels.

How to use Alternagel: Take this drug as directed usually between meals & in bedtime. do not take more then is prescribed. Too much antacid can actually increase amount of acid stomach produces. Shake well before pouring each dose.

Alternagel side effects: this medication is generally well tolerated. Loss of appetite or constipation may occur. Notify your pharmacist if you: vomit coffee ground-like matter, develop dark/tar-like stools. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or healthcare professional.

Alternagel Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: stomach problems, allergies (especially med allergies). this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with youre doctor. Small amounts of it medication may be excreted in breast milk. Consult youre doctor before breast-feeding.

Alternagel drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, especially of: iron, tetracycline, oral anti-diabetic medication, digoxin. Antacids can interfere with absorption about many other drugs. Be sure to cash with your pharmacist before taking antacids with any other drug. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or physician approval.

Alternagel Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe constipation, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, loss about appetite, drowsiness.

If you missed Alternagel dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near the time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Alternagel Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light & moisture. it may be stored in the refrigerator to improve taste.
