Detussin Usage: this med has a decongestant which relieves nasal stuffiness & narcotic antitussive used to suppress a cough. this combination drug is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & another respiratory illnesses.

How to use Detussin: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take it more much times than directed. it pill is best taken with a full glass of water after meal or snack.

Detussin side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, constipation, nausea or stomach upset may occur the 1st some days as your body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your physician if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, tremors, nervousness, mental confusion, breathing trouble. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if it medication causes you to feel drowsy. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or doctor.

Detussin Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist youre medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, depression, a history about drug dependency, allergies (especially drug allergies). it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with youre pharmacist. for small amounts of this medication found in breast milk, consult youre physician before breast-feeding.

Detussin pill interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: drug for blood pressure, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, cimetidine. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or doctor approval.

Detussin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, numbness & tingling about hands & feet, irregular heartbeat, weakness, drowsiness, slow or shallow breathing, or unconsciousness.

Detussin special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking it medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

If you missed Detussin dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near the time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Detussin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
