    Antibacterials - ophthalmic, otic

    Gentamicin Sulfate Usage: this med is used to treat infections of the eye (ophthalmic) or ear (otic).

    How to use Gentamicin Sulfate: Use this as prescribed. Continue using it for full clock prescribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a reinfection. To apply eye or ear medication, wash hands 1st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch dropper or tube or let this touch affected area. Shake drops well before using. Hold the ointment tube in youre hand for several minutes to make medication flow easier. EYE medication: Tilt your head back, gaze upward & pull down lower eyelid to make pouch. for drops, place dropper directly over eye & administer prescribed number of drops. look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. With eye ointment, place medication inside lower lid using sweeping motion. Close eye and roll the eyeball. Remove excess ointment with tissue. Try not to blink & do not rub eye. If you using another kind of eye drug, wait five to ten minutes before applying. EAR med: Lie on some your side or turn the affected ear upward to make application easier. Place prescribed number about drops in ear. Avoid touching the ear canal. Keep the ear tilted for one to two minutes. a small piece of clean cotton may be placed in ear to prevent drops from escaping.

    Gentamicin Sulfate side effects: this drug may temporarily sting when 1'st applied. If this effect persists or worsens, inform you're physician promptly. in unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, redness, swelling or discharge (including the eye or ear area), trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.

    Gentamicin Sulfate Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: all previous eye or ear problems, if you use contact lenses, any allergies. Vision may be temporarily blurred after applying eye medication. Use caution driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. this & all drugs should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy or when breast-feeding. Consult with your healthcare professional if you pregnant or breast-feeding.

    Gentamicin Sulfate drug interactions: Tell your doctor of every medications you may use (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: silver preparations, all other eye or ear antibiotic or corticosteroid (e.g., hydrocortisone) meds. do not start or stop any medicine with-out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.

    Gentamicin Sulfate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. it medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Gentamicin Sulfate special notes: Throw away any unused part of youre prescription. do not save it to use since other infection. do not allow anyone else to use it drug. infection may spread to other people if you accidentally contaminate medication.

    If you missed Gentamicin Sulfate dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; don't use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Gentamicin Sulfate Storage: Depending upon the manufacturer, product may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated. Ask your pharmacist. do not store in the bathroom. do not freeze.
