Warning: this medication should be given slowly & directly in to a vein (IV) after mixing with other intravenous fluids. do not inject this drug into muscle (IM) or just beneath the skin (SC). If this medication accidentally leaks into surrounding tissue, skin and/or muscle may be severely damaged. Notify physician immediately if redness, pain, & swelling occurs at, or around, injection site. Doxorubicin may cause heart problems (including heart failure) or bone marrow suppression. Notify you're healthcare professional immediately if you develop an irregular heartbeat, trouble breathing, swelling of the hands or feet, easy bruising or bleeding, dry cough, or signs of infection such as fever, unusual fatigue, or persistent sore throat. Heart problems may occur during therapy or rarely, months to years after receiving it drug. risk about developing heart problems varies depending on your dose and condition. this pill may rarely cause severe, sometimes fatal allergic reactions during infusion. look Side Effects section for details. Tell your pharmacist if you have liver problems since dose should be decreased in this situation. do not switch between different brands about this medication. Doxil Usage: this anticancer drug is used to treat AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma or cancer of ovaries.
How to use Doxil: this is administered by infusion into vein over 30 minutes by a health care professional. this is usually given once every 5 weeks. the dose and frequency is based on your condition & response to previous therapy.
Doxil side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hair loss or irritation in injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your healthcare professional promptly. Tell your physician immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: mouth sores, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, facial swelling, skin rash, peeling of hands or feet. this medication can lower the body's ability to fight an infection. Notify some your pharmacist promptly if you develop any signs about an infection such as: fever, chills, persistent sore throat. this medication may sometimes cause severe, even fatal allergic reactions during the infusion. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop any of these effects: headache, chills, flushing, swelling of the face, tightness at chest or throat, back pain, trouble breathing, dizziness, fainting, unusually fast heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or pharmacist.
Doxil Precautions: Before using this, tell your pharmacist if you have: heart disease, liver disease, any allergies. do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your pharmacist and avoid contact with people who have recently received oral polio vaccine. Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters & avoid activities such as contact sports to lower the chance about getting cut, bruised or injured. this tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult you're healthcare professional before using this medication. this is not known if this pill is excreted into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Doxil drug interactions: Tell your doctor about any nonprescription or prescription medication you may use, especially about: digoxin, other anti-cancer drugs, progesterones, verapamil, cyclosporine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, streptozocin, live virus vaccines. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.
Doxil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Doxil special notes: Laboratory tests & blood counts will be done routinely while using this to monitor Its effects and prevent side effects.
If you missed Doxil dose: this is important that each dose be used as scheduled. If you miss dose, contact your physician who will help establish a new dose schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Doxil Storage: Store it in the refrigerator in 36 to 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C) as directed. one time prepared the diluted solution may be refrigerated & should be used within 24 hours. May be frozen if used within one month. check expiration date on the label & properly discard of any unused drug after that time.
