    Calcium carbonate antacid - chewable pills

    (kal-see-um kar-buh-nate)

    common brand names: Dicarbosil, Rolaids, Titralac, Tums

    Chewable Antacid Usage: this pill is an antacid used to relieve upset stomach, heartburn or gas caused by stomach acid.

    How to use Chewable Antacid: Take it by mouth as directed. Chew thoroughly and swallow. don't swallow the tablets whole. Follow each dose with full glass of water. do not increase the dose or take this more many of times then prescribed. If you feel your dose is not effective, consult your healthcare professional.

    Chewable Antacid side effects: this drug is generally well tolerated. Constipation or stomach cramps may occur. Notify your physician if they continue or become severe. Tell some your pharmacist immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: loss of appetite, vomiting, dizziness, headache. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Chewable Antacid Precautions: Before taking this, tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, any allergies. Avoid taking more doses then recommended. this medication is considered safe for use during pregnancy or breast-feeding when used as directed.

    Chewable Antacid med interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any nonprescription or prescription med you may take including: certain antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines, quinolones), demeclocycline, methacycline, verapamil (a calcium channel blocker), quinidine, sodium polystyrene sulfonate, iron-containing products. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.

    Chewable Antacid Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, loss about appetite, tiredness, and weakness.

    Chewable Antacid special notes: their are various forms of this med available. the chewable meds offer convenience but liquid form is faster acting. talk to youre health care provider or pharmacist about best product for you. If your condition does not improve or worsens, contact some your doctor or healthcare professional. If your stools become dark in color or you vomit what looks like coffee grounds, contact your doctor as these may be signs of stomach bleeding

    If you missed Chewable Antacid dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered do not take it if it is near time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Chewable Antacid Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. do not store in bathroom.
