Double Tussin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is cough suppressant. this combination med is used to treat cough associated with the common cold, allergies & another respiratory illnesses.
How to use Double Tussin DM: Take this med as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass about water. do not crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased.
Double Tussin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first some days as youre body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform some your healthcare professional. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking this drug: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this drug makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or doctor.
Double Tussin DM Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with you're pharmacist. for small amounts of this medication are found at breast milk, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Double Tussin DM medication interactions: Tell youre healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.
Double Tussin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Double Tussin DM special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Double Tussin DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near time for the following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Double Tussin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
