Despec DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Despec DM: this medication is best taken with a full glass of water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets & capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because long action will be destroyed and chance of side effects will be increased. Take this medication as prescribed. don't increase some your dose or take this more many times than directed.
Despec DM side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your physician if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're physician or pharmacist.
Despec DM Precautions: Tell you're pharmacist your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any medication allergies. money it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult some your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're healthcare professional. this med may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Despec DM drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every prescription & nonprescription medications you use, especially: pill for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine with out physician or pharmacist approval.
Despec DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or quick heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Despec DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Despec DM dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for following dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Despec DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
