Despec Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. it combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Despec: it medication is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting pills & capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased. Take this medication as prescribed. do not increase youre dose or take it more often than directed.
Despec side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss about appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your pharmacist. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.
Despec Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any med allergies. bucks it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. this pill may be excreted in to breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Despec drug interactions: Tell youre physician of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Despec Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Despec special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it tablet. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Despec dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if this is near clock for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Despec Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
