Proctofoam HC Usage: Pramoxine is a topical anesthetic used to relieve minor pain, itching & discomfort. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation & itching. this combination med is used in treatment of certain conditions of anal region.
How to use Proctofoam HC: Read patient direction leaflet if provided by manufacturer. Shake canister well before using. for perianal use: spray a very small amount onto a tissue and gently rub into the affected area. for rectal use: use provided applicator. Holding container upright, insert into tip about applicator. Plunger should be drawn up every way, but not pulled out. Slowly press down on the container cap until foam reaches fill line of applicator. Remove applicator from the container. Holding applicator by barrel, gently insert tip into rectum. Push plunger to expel foam, than withdraw the applicator. Pull apart the applicator parts & clean thoroughly with warm water. do not insert any part about the container into the rectum. don't use this more often than prescribed for chance for side effects may be increased. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Proctofoam HC side effects: this medication can cause temporary redness or minor irritation when first applied. If these symptoms continue or become worse inform your healthcare professional. Notify your physician if you develop swelling, itching or rash where medication is applied. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness, vision changes. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Proctofoam HC Precautions: Before using this drug tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: eye problems, blood diseases, infections, liver disease, any allergies. Though very unlikely, this is possible it medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. this may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. this is especially true since children & for those who have used this since an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. it precaution applies since up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. Its not known if this med is excreted into breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Proctofoam HC med interactions: Tell youre doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. do not start or stop any medicine with out pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Proctofoam HC Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Proctofoam HC special notes: Use this only for condition for which this was prescribed. If condition does not improve or becomes worse after several days, notify your doctor. Inform all you're pharmacists you use, or have used, this drug.
If you missed Proctofoam HC dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use this if It's near time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Proctofoam HC Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. money the expiration date & discard any expired med.
